Half-Pressed Position

Ur, Ur, and u- are the cartesian results Ur and u- are the results in cylindrical co-ordinates. Note u is in the direction of positive P, pressing into the half plane for compressive loading. The tangential displacements of the free surface are towards the origin in agreement with our intuition.

The method of manufacture of solid rubber products by simultaneous shaping and vulcanising. An uncured blank of rubber compound is placed in the bottom half of a mould, the top half of the mould placed in position and the mould placed in a heated hydraulic press. The press performs the dual function of both closing and heating the mould. See Transfer Moulding and Injection Moulding. 

A more positive reduction potential for the couple Ox/Red, means that Red is a more powerful oxidant. Screw injection and plunger injection molding may be used with vertical presses for insert molding. In such molding, the screw and barrel (or plunger, barrel, and stuffing mechanism) may be positioned vertically above the upward closing mold. After inserts are placed into the open bottom mold half, the press closes the mold, and the plastic is injected into the mold.
