Gymnemagenin and Gymnestrogenin. Gymnemagenin (1), mp 328-335°C,the major sapogenin from G. sylvestre was obtained by hydrolysis of gymnemic acid mixture by y -glucuronidase followed by alkaline hydrolysis. Its structure was elucidated to be 1/9,16/ , 21/3,22k, 23,28-hexahydroxyolean-.12-ene... [Pg.649]

Gymnestrogenin, the 3, 16/5, 21 , 23,28-pentahydroxyolean-12-ene (6) was isolated from the leaves of G. sylvestre by Stocklin This sapogenin, mp 288-289°C was also isolated by Sinsheimer and Rao by hydrolysis of their gymnemic acid D with -glucuronidase (Helix promatia) preparation. [Pg.650]
