Gum formation in prereformers

When processing feedstocks that are difficult to desulphurise such as diesel, the deactivation will be overlapped by sulphur poisoning [350] [415]. Steam reforming of diesel from Fischer-Tropsch synthesis is easy, as it is sulphur-free and contains no aromatics. 

The risk of carbon (or gum) formation from higher hydroearbons can be analysed separately from the potential for carbon predicted by the principle of equilibrated gas .
