Uses Technical coumaphos is a tan crystalline solid with a slight sulfur odor. The USEPA has grouped it under GUP. Coumaphos is extensively used for the control of a wide variety of livestock insects, including cattle grubs, screw worms, lice, scabies, flies, and ticks. It is used against ectoparasites, which are insects that live on the outside of host animals (e.g., sheep, goats, horses, pigs, poultry). [Pg.132]

In some awkward places, back or underside spotfacing is required. Fig. 8.16. The pilot is fed through the hole and the cutter is fixed to the pilot, usually by some quick-locking mechanism or a simple grub screw. When the operation is finished, the cutter is removed and the pilot withdrawn. [Pg.127]

Strip connectors or a chocolate block is a very common method of connecting conductors. The connectors are mounted in a moulded plastic block in strips of 10 or 12. The conductors are inserted into the block and secured with the grub-screw. In order that the conductors do not become damaged, the screw connection must be firm but not over-tightened. The size used should relate to the current rating of the circuit. Figure 4.12 shows a strip connector. [Pg.292]

Depending on the style, thread diameters are generally available up to 10 mm, with lengths up to 50 mm. For light loading conditions where space is limited, a headless variety known as a grub screw is available. A typical application would be to retain a knob or collar on a shaft. [Pg.185]

Headless screws of this type - known as socket set screws - are available with different shapes of point. These are used like grub screws, where space is limited, but for higher strength applications. Different points are used either to bite into the metal surface to prevent loosening or, in the case of a dog point, to tighten without damage to the work. Fig. 13.3. [Pg.186]
