Grow sticks

If you only have a small space for vegetables, or find it difficult to work out a rotation plan with the vegetables you want to grow, stick to just one rule don t follow crops from... [Pg.207]

Grow sticks are used as natural supports for plants and creepers. They consist of a wooden pole wrapped with the layer of coir fibre or nonwoven felt. The roots of the plant can easily penetrate on the pores of coir pad. [Pg.379]

The plasma-wall interaction of the neutral particles is described by a so-called sticking model [136, 137]. In this model only the radicals react with the surface, while nonradical neutrals (H2, SiHa, and Si H2 +2) are reflected into the discharge. The surface reaction and sticking probability of each radical must be specified. The nature (material, roughness) and the temperature of the surface will influence the surface reaction probabilities. Perrin et al. [136] and Matsuda et al. [137] have shown that the surface reaction coefficient of SiH3 is temperature-independent at a value of = 0.26 0.05 at a growing a-Si H surface in a... [Pg.39]

Any monoculture creates a pest and disease paradise, so it is worth growing a diversity of plants where possible—in all parts of the garden, not just the vegetable patch. Mixed planting can be effective and attractive, and if particular combinations work in your garden, stick with them. What works in one situation may not be effective in another. [Pg.94]

A chopstick or swizzle stick makes an excellent tool for transplanting seedlings. Before transplanting, water the soil well. Pry the seedlings gently out of the growing medium and very carefully hold them by one of the seed leaves as you lower them into a hole poked into the growing medium in the new container. Make sure the seed leaves are well above the soil surface otherwise, they are likely to rot. [Pg.199]
