Group 16 systems ring transformations

CN/CC replacements were also observed when the pyrimidine ring is part of a bicyclic system. Reaction of quinazoline with active methylene compounds, containing the cyano group (malonitrile, ethyl cyanoacetate, phenylacetonitrile) gave 2-amino-3-R-quinoline (R = CN, C02Et, Ph) (72CPB1544) (Scheme 12). The reaction has to be carried out in the absence of a base. When base is used, no ring transformation was observed only dimer formation and SnH substitution at C-4 was found. [Pg.40]

Degenerate ring transformations of heterocyclic systems that have been discovered to date can be classified in two main groups (1) Nucleophilic... [Pg.1]

In the second group of ring-chain tautomeric interconversions, an open-chain system is transformed into a cyclic system through the intramolecular reversible addition of a functional group to a polar multiple bond lA IB 2A 2B 3A 3B and 4A 4B. The book (I) and this article deal with... [Pg.252]

A nucleophile-induced ring transformation reaction of 2-pyranones was reported (Scheme 6) to result in a regioselective synthesis of 2-aminopyridines 21 or 2-pyridones 22 <05SL623>. Urea was used to generate ammonia as a nucleophile source. The reaetion of 23 (R=CN) was initially examined under elevated temperatures and solvent-free conditions. This system yielded a mixture of both 21 and the pyridone equivalent of 23, in equal amounts. The reaction conditions were modified to yield 2-aminopyridine 21 selectively as shown in Scheme 6. However, the only reaction found to be selective for 2-pyridone 22 formation is where the cyano group was replaced with an ester, shown in Scheme 6. Compound 24 was converted to pyridone 22 in good yield. [Pg.313]

Finally, aromatic nucleophilic denitrocyclization reactions are reviewed for the first time by Stanislav Radi (Prague, Czech Republic). The nitro functionality is a good leaving group, especially for intramolecular reactions, and many such reactions lead to polycyclic heterocyclic ring systems. Frequently, these transformations are a method of choice for preparative purposes. [Pg.261]
