Group Frequencies Associated with NH and CN Structural Units

GROUP FREQUENCIES ASSOCIATED WITH NH AND CN STRUCTURAL UNITS 

The structural unit NH can occur in such compounds as amides O 

Sandorfy and his co-workers have summarized a series of distinct bands which appear near 2500 cm for amine hydrochlorides These bands, while not strong, are quite distinct for each type of amine hydrochloride. 

The aliphatic and aromatic amines have a number of distinct bands which can be used to identify the type of amine. For these amines the structural units NH and CN both have fairly good group frequencies. A brief resume of these vibrations is presented in
