Both sexes of the Migrant Hawker have a brown costa the Common Hawker s is diagnostically yellow. While the female Migrant Hawker is medium brown with dull yeltowy green spots, the female Southern Hawker has extensive apple-green markings and the female Common Hawker has mainly lemon-coloured ones. [Pg.122]

It is a valuable dyestuffs intermediate. When fused with KOH, two molecules of benz-anthrone combine at the positions marked above to give a dibenzanthrone which is in itself a vat dye. Also used as an intermediate for the preparation of the valuable Caledon Jade Green. [Pg.55]

Cadinene yields a beautiful colour reaction when a few drops are dissolved in chloroform and shaken with a few drops of concentrated sulphuric acid. The liquid turns dark green, passing to blue and be-ooiuing red on warming. If acetic acid be used instead of sulphuric acid, the blue colour is more marked. [Pg.83]
