Great Stink

In the summer of 1858, the smell from the Thames became so strong that it affected the Houses of Parliament - the year of the Great Stink . Money and resources... 

The Great Stink was another example of a Tragedy of the Commons. In this case the river itself was the commons . However, in this case, there was no Prisoner s Dilemma the cause was overpopulation, ignorance and lack of investment. 

So I guess I wanted to say that I really like my job. There are quite a few untenured faculty members in this audience. There are good places, there are good jobs. I think men go through times when their jobs stink and so do women there are cycles that we all go through. But all in all, an academic life, in my own personal experience, has been great. 

SANGUIS — Blood is Orpiment, that is, the Stone which is not yet perfect, the Philosophical Water which gives life and unites, according to Morien. It has great strength, which must be sapped by means of stinking water to render it innocuous, but this is after dealbation. 

The Wolff-Kishner reduction has the advantage of not producing great plumes of stink. It could likely be done in an urban setting without arousing the suspicions of nosey neighbors. Further, the reactants are only moderately expensive, and not tightly controlled at present. Fair amounts of product can be turned out at a rate of one batch per day. 

When the pipe has cooled, the cap on the top of the pipe is loosened. Then the pipe is returned to the tub of ice water, and the ammonia is allowed to slowly evaporate away. This will take overnight, and raise great plumes of stink.
