Gradient-induced eddy currents

Gradient-pulse-induced eddy currents can distort the line shapes of spectral peaks, particularly in short TE spectra. This problem can make spectra difficult to analyze because analytical fitting functions may not be appropriate. The use of high-performance gradient coils with very short rise and fall times can minimize eddy currents. However, postprocessing of spectra, using a phase-correction derived from an unsuppressed water peak, can improve the quality of spectra where eddy-current-induced distortion is apparent. [Pg.3426]
