Gradient elution viscosity effects

Both the Knauer Type 9100 gradient former and the ACS gradient programmer with microprocessor use two Knauer Type 5200 pumps. The micrometric blocking screws used to compensate for the compressibility effect in isocratic elution are not useful because in gradient elution the column inlet pressure and hence the compressibility effect change with time in proportion to the viscosity of the mixture. [Pg.57]
