Gold distances

Note. The hkl values 111 and 110 are reduced by 5% due to the size-determined contraction of the gold-gold distances. 

Measurement of the decomposition enthalpy demonstrates the stronger binding in the cluster compound relative to the bulk, in agreement with the shorter gold-gold distance observed by EXAFS. 

D structure. The gold-gold distance increases from 2.711(3) A in the starting product, to 2.9047(17) A in the final chain [292]. 

CH2py) = l-methyl-3-(2-pyridinylmethyl)-imidazolium] (Figure 2.57a) whose luminescent behavior has been described [307], 2-bis(trimethylsilyl)methylpyridyl [308] or 2-(dimethylaminomethyl)ferrocenyl [309] complexes. In the dinuclear derivative with the 4,5-dihydro-4,4-dimethyl-l,3-oxazol-2-yl)thien-3-yl ligand (Figure 2.57b) the gold-gold distance is 2.8450(6) A [310]. 

The monoclinic form contained 13.5 gold atoms in the asymmetric unit nine of them formed a prismatic stack (Au- Au interactions of 3.28(3) A), and each of these stacks bound to another stack with a gold-gold distance of 3.65(3) A to form infinite chains. The remaining 4.5 gold centers in the asymmetric units formed a second nine-prism stack by a two-fold operation leading to an intramolecular distance of 3.28...
