Gold complex compounds, anions

Late transition metal complexes of polypyridines are rare a number includes cyclometalated gold(III) compounds. Rare earth metals tend to transform polypyridines into radical-anion or dianion forms, or even structurally modify them by activation. 

The clinical pharmacology and adverse effects of gold compounds have again been reviewed [26 ]. Their mechanism of action in rheumatoid arthritis has not been elucidated. The experimental pharmacology of the auranocyanide anion, a human metabolite of several anti-rheumatic gold complexes, has also been reviewed [27 ].
