Glycosylated calcitonin

Hashimoto et al (36) studied the effects of glycosylation on the structure and dynamics of eel calcitonin in micelles and lipid bilayers by NMR. It was found that the glycosylated calcitonin derivatives, CT-GlcNAc and CT-M6, took the identical comformations in micelles as calcitonin itself. Glycosylated bile acid analogues were shown to be more effective than taurocholate in increasing the intestinal uptake of calcitonin in rats (Bowe et al. 1997).
