PCP and ketamine bind to the NMDA receptor and block the neurotransmitter glutamate. PCP also blocks reuptake of dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin. Because so many neurotransmitters are affected, the signs and symptoms of PCP intoxication are numerous and varied.
