Glucomannans extraction

As biomass samples, sugi Cryptomeria japonica D. Don) and buna (Fagus crenala Blume) woods were selected for supercritical water treatment. In addition, microciystalline cellulose (avicel), glucomannan extracted from softwood dissolving pulp, larch xylan (Shigma Co., Ltd.), and milled wood lignin (MWL) from buna wood were studied to understand reaction behaviors of wood components dunng supercritical water treatment. [Pg.1339]

A commercial glucomannan extracted from Amorphophallus Konjac was also tested. [Pg.186]

For the glucomannan extracted from Amorphophallus Konjac, the modulus curves at 50°C at a load frequency of 1 Hz and a humidity rate of 0.1 %RH/min is compared to that of xylan in Figure 9. As in the xylan, a weak transition occurred at low relative humidity and a glass transition at 60 to 70 %RH. Also, for the glucomannan the transitions shifted to lower relative humidities with increasing temperature. [Pg.194]

In one study, an arabino-(4-0-methylglucurono)xylan of pine had to be isolated in the pure form without the use of any alkaline reagents. A chlorite holocellulose was extracted with methyl sulfoxide, followed by hot water. The product from the latter extraction was dissolved in water, and a xylan-rich fraction was precipitated by adding cetyltrimethyl-ammonium bromide. When a chlorite holocellulose of spruce was extracted with methyl sulfoxide and then with water, the former extract was richer in xylan, and the latter in glucomannan. ... [Pg.437]
