First, internal stress is plotted against arbitrarily selected single parameters just as the data in glow discharge polymers were presented. All films prepared by LPCAT showed the same kind of curling force, from which internal stress can be calculated. Figure 11.6 shows the influence of LPCAT operation parameters on... [Pg.228]

The effect of WjFM parameter on the chemical nature of the glow discharge polymer of propylene was studied by means of XPS. Figure 35.8 depicts the... [Pg.790]

Figure 2. Dependence of the ESCA C(ls) peaks of glow discharge polymers of tetrafiuoroethylene on discharge conditions and the location of polymer deposition. Polymer deposits occur at two locations (a) before the rf coil and (h) after rf coil. Discharge power level is 1.9 X 10 J/kg. Figure 2. Infrared spectra of all glow discharge polymers developed broad absorption bands corresponding to -OH and -i=0 functional groups as storage time elapsed. All polymeric samples, irrespective of the conditions of polymerization showed an increase in mass on exposure to air (which sometimes rises to 25% over a period of 3 months). These results have been discussed in detail elsewhere (20). [Pg.60]

The formation of polymeric materials in the plasma state of organic vapor(s) (partially ionized state) is referred to as plasma polymerization, and the resultant materials are plasma polymers. Because the most practical way to create low temperature plasma is to employ an electric glow discharge, the terms glow discharge polymerization and glow discharge polymers are often used synonymously for plasma polymerization and plasma polymers. [Pg.90]
