Solubilities glass

Chemical Designations - Synonyms Water glass Soluble glass Chemical Formula Na2Si03-NaSi04-H O. [Pg.359]

Organic acid Some glasses are more prone to attack by organic acids than by other acids with a lower pH value. These acids form complex ions in solution which increases the glass solubility. Many vitreous enamels contain lead oxide and are susceptible to attack by organic acids. Consequently their corrosion resistance is assessed by exposure to acetic or citric acidsThe test temperature is always stipulated because a rise of 10°C can double the rate of reaction between glass and acid. [Pg.901]

Silicate. Potassium silicate, K2Si03, colorless (when pure) glass, soluble, mp 976°C, formed by reaction of silicon oxide and potassium carbonate at high temperature, similar in properties and uses to the more common sodium silicate. [Pg.1362]

Al ", Ca ", or Fe ", also significantly reduces glass solubility. A correlation exists between the ratio of free and total silanol groups and glass solubility (20). This ratio varies linearly as different metal ions are added to Na-, K-, or Li-based silicate glasses (4.0 mol ratio). The addition of water depresses this ratio significantiy. [Pg.5]

White, deliquescent, crystalline flakes or needles, very soluble in water decomposes on heating into NI and HF. Attacks glass. Solubility in water at 0°C 100 g./lOO ml. d. 1.015. Structure hexagonal (wurtzite). [Pg.183]

Cytostatic and antifungal depsipeptides from Chon-dromyces crocatus (Myxobacteria). They are structurally related with jaspamide from sponges. C. A C36H46N4O7, Mr 646.75, glass, soluble in methanol, acetone, insoluble in hexane. Cytostatic mechanism of action accumulation of cell nuclei and stabilization of actin occur, the result is death of the cell. [Pg.131]
