Glass, organic aluminosilicate glasses

In 1968 Wilson published an account of his early search for alternatives to orthophosphoric acid as a cement-former with aluminosilicate glasses. Aluminosilicate glasses of the type used in dental silicate cements were used in the study and were reacted with concentrated solutions of various organic and inorganic adds. Wilson (1968) made certain general observations on the nature of cement formation which apply to all cements based on aluminosilicate glasses. 

In order to determine the effect of the properties of the intermediate-plate material, namely the dielectric constant (e) on the degree of cleaning of the dust-laden surface, experiments were made with plates made from organic and aluminosilicate glass (diameter of glass particles, 40-60 M Vo = 20 kV H = 1 cm E = 20 kV/cm) (see below). 

Two synthesis variables seemed to have received most attention in the work reviewed here, the cation composition and the nature and source of the aluminosilicate reactant. Extensive use of mixed bases of the alkali, alkaline earth, and organic cations have been reported as well as a wide variety of reactant aluminosilicates including solutions, hydrogels, glasses, kaolin (raw and calcined), and naturally occurring zeolites. 

Solid polymeric colorants may also be prepared by using solid absorbent materials such as metal oxides, metal salts of aluminosilicate, clays, diatomites, hydro-talcite, silica, zeolite, hollow glass spheres, organic-inorganic mesoporous hybrid... 

NMR spectroscopy has been used to determine the hydroxyl content in erbium-doped aluminophosphates, aluminosilicate and fluorosilicate glasses. NMR studies of the organic template in mesostructured aluminophosphates have been reported. A comment on the 3Q-MAS/HETCOR...
