Getting started Assign responsibility

When objectives are unclear, the ball can easily get dropped, and it will be hard to determine whose performance is lacking. To get started, use the S.M.A.R.T. concepts for developing goals and objectives as discussed in Chapter 4, Setting the Direction for the Safety Culture . By using the S.M.A.R.T. concept, you can check assignments of responsibility to ensure that they specify who does what and that goals are reasonably attainable.
