Getting an Audit Program Started

There are some key items to remember for an effective safety audit program. We need to start with a comprehensive, detailed, and focused 

When I am tasked to perform a general safety audit on a facility that I have never been to before, I obtain as much background information regarding the facility as possible that is pertinent to safety culture. This general information is always helpful. 

How many workers are permanently or otherwise stationed at the facility  

What levels of protection are typically used by the team members there  

Is there a site-specific health and safety plan covering the facility Is there a general safety manual that covers general tasks performed at the facility
