Germanium-Hydrogen Bonds (Reductive Radical Chain Reactions) 

Kinetic studies of the hydrogen donating ability showed that (Me3Si)3GeH was superior not only to (Me3Si)3SiH but also to Bu3SnH (Fig. 11.2) [31]. 

The reactivity of group 14 organometallic hydride toward nitroxides [32], primary alkyl radicals [33], and cumylperoxyl radicals [34] has been studied. 

Addition of (Me3Si)3GeH to carbon-carbon triple bonds proceeded smoothly under radical conditions to give vinylgermane, although carbon-carbon double bonds are inert under identical conditions [35].
