Gentle SIMS

Place the container on the heat source and gently sim-merfor 30 minutes. Stir this mixture every five minutes. 

For more complex molecular spectra, particularly those collected under Static SIMS conditions, the situation becomes more complicated. In such cases, comparative analysis of spectra or even the use of the Gentle SIMS approach may be required. The original parent molecule responsible for the respective signals can also be defined when the Gentle SIMS approach is combined with the FPM along with the use of the Simplified Molecular Input Line Entry Specification algorithm.

Since the sampling depth of TOF-SIMS in the static mode is approximately 2 nm, a thickness much less than for most proteins, TOF-SIMS can detect information on the conformation and orientation of proteins on substrates. There are two interesting approaches to the conformation and orientation of proteins on substrates which have been proposed in recent publications one [82] is based on SFs primary ions and the gentle ionization effect of gold substrate, and others [83,84] are based on spectrum analysis by PCA. 

A GC-MS-selected ion monitoring (SIM) method for the simultaneous detection of Sarin, Soman, Tabun, GF, VX, Russian VX and Sulfur Mustard in water was reported in 1999 [62].
