General Principles of Structure

General Principles of Structure.— The structures so far studied by X-ray analysis indicate that a wide variation of molecular architecture is possible. [Pg.391]

PohF has suggested using the conformational data of proteins determined at high resolution for calculation of an empirical protein energy map, which is based on two assumptions (a) the individual influmces are averaged out for a large number of different observations (b) the conformational states of a peptide unit in a collection of proteins correspond to a Boltzmann distribution. [Pg.392]

The calculated energy maps show interesting differences from the theoretical maps. They indicate that the carbonyls of helices are often displaced to a position pointing away from the helix axis, possibly due to interaction of the w-electrons of a peptide bond with the partial positive charge of the amide proton of the following amide. There is also evidence for steric interference with peptides further away in the chain. Conformational data are also presented for glycines and aromatic side-chains. [Pg.392]

Some General Principles of Structure and REACTIVITY A LOOK TOWARD SYNTHESIS... [Pg.174]

In addition to examples quoted in Section II,C, the CD spectra of the following compounds have been recorded hemandezine, isotetrandrine, thalsimine, thalsimidine, 0-methylthalicberine, thalisopine, thalisopidine, thalmine, thal-fine, three related derivatives, and two unidentified bases isomeric to thalbaden-sine. Spectra were measured in neutral MeOH, as well as after addition of HC1. Several general principles of structural-spectral correlation were deduced (141). [Pg.127]

In addition, we have presented several of the important, practical types of damping treatments and the quantitative role of viscoelastic materials in such treatments. The reader should keep in mind several general principles of structural damping as follows ... [Pg.343]

Special attention will be paid to general principles of structural chemistry, with emphasis laid on structural changes depending on ... [Pg.81]

A General Principles of Structure and Reactivity Illustrated by the Alkylation of Alkynide Anions... [Pg.317]

The general principles of the structure of glassy polymers and their rubber-modified derivatives, and of the molecular and morphological parameters have been thoroughly investigated. [Pg.277]

Micro structures in heterogeneous catalysts are closely related to the catalytic properties. TEM and related microanalytic techniques are powerful tools in characterising catalysts at atomic level. The obtained structural information is essential to the understanding of correlations between microstructures and catalytic properties. In this lecture note, the general principle of characterization of catalysts by TEM is introduced and the applications on Pt/Si02 model system and on VPO catalysts are intensively described. [Pg.473]
