The strictly logical procedure of drawing the general arrangements before the details is the same as the technique of developing a complete computer model and then deriving all the individual details from the model database. The two have the same limitations. 

In conclusion, there is quite a complex system of information flow involved in design co-ordination. Its mastery for large and complex projects is a matter of developed teamwork, often supported by advanced software systems, but in any event greatly facilitated by careful planning and work breakdown.
