CONDUCTING POLYMER BLENDS OF SOLUBLE POLYTHIOPHENE DERIVATIVES IN POLYSTYRENE [58] [Pg.179]

The optical and electronic properties of blends of soluble polythiophene derivatives and polystyrene (PSt) were investigated over the full range of compositions. The polyblend films, made conducting by charge transfer doping (reaction with NOPFe in acetonitrile) display an insulator-metal transition at the percolation threshold a volume fraction of 16% conducting polymer in PSt. [Pg.179]

The conducting fraction was a copolymer, poly(3-hexylthienylene-co-3-benzylthienylene, hereafter referred to as P3HBzT, chosen because of excellent solubility in many organic solvents. Infrared and electronic [Pg.179]

Although, one might expect some sensitivity of the percolation threshoid to the specifics of the micro-structure of the aggregates which make up the phase-segregated polybiend, it has been shown [59] that both for site percoiation and for continuum percolation, the critical volume fraction, c, is quite universai for percolation in three dimensions t c=0.16. [Pg.181]
