GB and VX Projectiles

Consider a separate feed conveyor for GB and VX projectiles that do not contain energetics. The conveyor would bypass the PMD area and feed projectiles directly into the projectile agent removal system. 

The stockpile materiel stored at Anniston Chemical Activity consists of GB projectiles and rockets, HD projectiles and ton containers, and VX projectiles, mines, and rockets. 

The chemical stockpile at Umatilla consists of HD ton containers, GB bombs, projectiles, and rockets, and VX projectiles, rockets, mines, and spray tanks. There are only five non-stockpile items stored at Umatilla ...

With the selected RSM and PMD machine rates, all equipment and processes are sized to achieve the required average weekly output of 3,600 155-mm H projectiles, 1,440 155-mm VX projectiles, 720 8-inch GB projectiles, or 1,440 rockets (VX or GB) per week. If the actual average operating hours achieved during the munition processing campaigns exceed 72 hours per week, the plant would complete operations ahead of schedule.

These three types of chemical agents are contained in various munitions. M55 rockets contain GB or VX M23 mines and spray tanks contain VX bombs contain GB and 105-mm, 155-mm, 4.2-inch, and 8-inch projectiles contain GB, VX, or HD. All three agents are stored in 1-ton containers for possible future transfer to chemical munitions. None of these agents or munitions have been manufactured since 1968. All are at least 26 years old, and some are more than 50 years old.
