Texas lignite gasification

Texas lignite to generate MBG which would be piped to the Houston area for fuel and feedstock use. These studies have included the testing of Texas lignite in commercial gasification units located abroad. 

Gasification. The only study on gasification kinetics of Texas lignite has been performed by Bass (23). Using a differential reactor, he obtained rate data at 700°C and for pressures ranging from 61.6 to 225.9 kPa. Rate equations as a function of steam partial pressure and carbon conversion were developed. 

Direct combustion has been used with Texas lignite on a utility scale since the 1950 s. However, in the past ten years there has been considerable testing of Texas lignite in alternative energy processes such as fluidized bed combustion, gasification, and direct liquefaction. We summarize activities in each area below.
