Gas groups

Atoms that are dose to a noble gas (Group 18) in the periodic table form ions that contain the same number of electrons as the neighboring noble-gas atom. [Pg.38]

Name from neos (Greek = new) the noble gas group was unknown Properties... [Pg.125]

Since detectors are by definition exposed to combustible gases they should be rated for electrically classified areas, such as Class I, Division I or 2, the specific gas groups (normally groups C and D), and temperature ratings. It should be noted the UL presently does not specifically test combustible gas detector sensor heads for use in classified areas, although they do tests enclosures for control and data acquisition circuits. Several other international standards do evaluate combustible gas detectors for use in classified areas (e.g., BS 6020). [Pg.190]

At present this approach is more convenient than using ideal gas groups together with heats of sublimation... [Pg.53]

The noble gas (Group VIIIA) compound XeF2 can be safely destroyed by treatment with NaOH ... [Pg.57]

The second notation forms shows only those electrons beyond those in the noble gas (Group VIILA or 18) found before the element in question and identifies that element in square brackets. [Pg.124]

Hazardous area classification zone, temperature classification, and gas group... [Pg.582]

Before we finished our work a persistent gas group moved in, tested mustard gas, etc. and protective clothing. [Pg.190]

CAS 7440-59-7. He. Noble element of atomic number 2, first element in the noble gas group of the periodic table, aw 4.00260, valence of 0. Helium nuclei are alpha particles. Most important isotope is helium-3. [Pg.635]

CAS 7439-90-9. Kr. Element of atomic number 36, noble-gas group of the periodic table, aw 83.80, valence = 2 (possibly others), has six stable isotopes and a number of artificially radioactive forms. [Pg.733]

CAS 10043-92-2. Rn. Gaseous radioactive element. Atomic number 86 noble gas group of periodic table aw 222 valences = 2, 4, (6) 18 radioactive isotopes, all short-lived. The radon-222 isotope has a half-life of 3.8 days, emits a-radiation. [Pg.1073]

For optimal fixation with GA, the discs are rinsed briefly with BSA and incubated with 0.1 ml 0.25% GA in 10 mM sodium phosphate buffer, pH 7.5, containing 150 mM NaCl (PBS), for 15 min at room temperature. The discs are then rinsed three times with PBS, the residual active GA groups are blocked with 0.1 ml 100 mM glycine (pH 7.5) and 0.1 ml 3% BSA in TBS for 60-100 min at 37°C and washed with the phosphate buffer. This fixation prevents desorption of proteins when Triton X-100 is used. [Pg.318]
