Diorgano ditellurium derivatives react with triethylgermyl lithium, bis[triethylgermyl] mercury, and triorganostannanes to produce organo triorgano-group-IV-element tellurium derivatives [Pg.191]

Ethyl Triethylgemiyl Tellurium [from IHethylgermyl Lithium] 1.56 g (3.0 mmol) of bis[trielhylgermyl] mercury are reacted with 0.5 g (72 mmol) of lithium in 30 ml of hexane under an inert atmosphere. 1.55 g (5.0 mmol) of diethyl ditellurium are added to the resultant solution of triethylgermyl lithium. After 5 min, the mixture is cooled to — 196° and 1.87 g (7.8 mmol) of bromotriethylgermane are added. The mixture is allowed to warm to 20°, shaken for 10 min, filtered, and the solvent is evaporated yield 2.8 g (89%). [Pg.191]

Ethyl Triethylgermyl Tellurium [from Bis(triethylgermyl) Mercury] Under an inert atmosphere, 3.27 g (6.3 mmol) of bis[triethylgermyl] mercury are mixed with 1.97 g (6.3 mmol) of diethyl ditellurium. The mixture is kept at 20 for 24 h, filtered, and the filtrate is distilled under vacuum yield 2.91 g (73%) b.p. 61°/1 torr. [Pg.191]

Phenyl Triphenylstannyl Tellurium Under an inert atmosphere, 2.05 g (5 mmol) diphenyl ditellurium are mixed with 3.5 g (10 mmol) of triphenylstannane and the mixture is warmed to 60-70°. When evolution of hydrogen ceases, additional triphenylstannane is added and the mixture is kept at 70° until it is completely decolorized. The mixture is then cooled, the product is separated from hexaphenyldistannane by extraction with diethyl ether and petroleum ether (b.p. 40-60°) and the extract is concentrated until the product crystallizes yield 60% m. p. 91-93°. [Pg.191]
