From Diaryl Ditellurium Compounds and Thionyl or Sulfuryl Chloride [Pg.316]

The preparation of alkyl and aryl tellurium trichlorides from ditellurium compounds is more conveniently carried out with thionyl chloride or sulfuryl chloride instead of gaseous chlorine. [Pg.316]

Sulfuryl chloride and diphenyl ditellurium in chloroform gave phenyl tellurium trichloride in 80% yields [Pg.316]

Sulfuryl chloride was successfully used to convert bis[2-alkoxyalkyl] ditellurium compounds to 2-alkoxyalkyl tellurium trichlorides.  [Pg.316]

2-Methoxy-3-phenylpropyl Tellurium Trichloride A stirred solution of 0.50 g (1.81 mmol) bis [2-methoxy-3-phenylpropyl] ditellurium in a mixture of 2 ml carbon tetrachloride and 6 ml hexane is cooled to 0°. 0.37 g (2.74 mmol) sulfuryl chloride dissolved in 2 ml hexane are added. After cooling in a freezer, the product was isolated yield 91% m.p. 119° [Pg.316]
