Four-electrode systems recording

A one-port (dipolar) electrode system measures immittance. The two electrodes function both as CC and PU electrodes. A two-port four-electrode system measures transmittance (transfer immittance) for example, with current injected in one port and voltage recorded at the other port (the black box, Section 7.1). The electrode pairs of current injection and voltage recording may be interchanged if the reciprocity theorem is valid, the transmittance is the same. For the reciprocity theorem to be valid, there are no constraints on geometry, only on, for example, system linearity as outlined in Section 8.1.3. The reciprocity theorem is not based on geometry but on network theory, and is therefore treated in Section 8.1. [Pg.233]

The four-electrode tetrapolar system of Figure 10.10 is very different from the two-electrode mono-and bipolar systems (Grimnes and Martinsen 2007). It measures transfer impedance because the potential is recorded at a separate PU port and not at the CC port. If the two ports are far apart, no signal will be transferred from the CC to the PU port and the transfer impedance will be virtually 0 2. [Pg.160]

The SFG spectra of CN at Ag electrode at various potentials varying from — 1.2 V (SCE) to the upper limit below Ag dissolution have been recorded by Tad-jeddine and Le Rille [13]. Contrary to the IR spectra, in which four bands for this system were observed, SEC spectra exhibited a single band, providing direct spectroscopic information on the adsorbed species. According to the same authors, the... [Pg.924]

Square-wave voltammetry (SWV) is one of the four major voltammetric techniques provided by modern computer-controlled electroanalytical instruments, such as Autolab and pAutolab (both EcoChemie, Utrecht), BAS 100 A (Bioana-lytical Systems) and PAR Model 384 B (Princeton Applied Research) [1], The other three important techniques are single scan and cyclic staircase, pulse and differential pulse voltammetry (see Chap. II.2). All four are either directly applied or after a preconcentration to record the stripping process. The application of SWV boomed in the last decade, firstly because of the widespread use of the instruments mentioned above, secondly because of a well-developed theory, and finally, and most importantly, because of its high sensitivity to surface-confined electrode reactions. Adsorptive stripping SWV is the best electroanalytical method for the determination of electroactive organic molecules that are adsorbed on the electrode surface [2]. [Pg.111]

Studies on the woven fabrics using plain weaves made from high density polypropylene monofilaments were carried out using ASTM D150 standard method [46]. Four fabrics were used, each of which had different filament diameter, yam spacing, thickness and areal mass density. Each of these fabrics was kept between the capacitor plates and the corresponding volume fraction was calculated from the fabric areal density, density of the fiber and the electrode gap. The effective permittivity of the capacitor system with the fabric was calculated from the recorded capacitance value and the over-all capacitor dimensions using... [Pg.199]
