Forsyth approach

SCHEME 2.72 Main retrosynthetic disconnections of Panek and Forsyth approaches. [Pg.71]

Some authors also take the approach to compute images that look as if they were taken under some canonical illuminant (e.g. Forsyth (1992)). In general, it is important that the output computed by a color constancy algorithm is not affected by changes of the illuminant. In other words, the computed descriptor should be constant irrespective of the illuminant. Otherwise, we would not have a color constancy algorithm. But at the same time, the output has to be nontrivial. If we would not make this assumption, a trivial color constancy algorithm could be found, which returns the same constant value for all input images. This was also pointed out by Forsyth (1992). [Pg.275]

Further modifications of two previous approaches were proposed by Forsyth [Forsyth, 1973], calculating a)) constants. [Pg.154]

As demonstrated by the S5mthetic routes outlined above, each strategy is elegant and innovative in its own way. A discussion of the difficulties associated with the construction of the A-ring of th5 siferol is included in every publication. In addition, the stereoselective assembly of the tetrahydropyran central unit via hydroxyl group cyclizations onto epoxides has been shown to be an efficient tactic. An advantage is apparent in Forsyth s approach, with the construction of the A-ring independently and at the outset of the synthesis. [Pg.52]

Scientists and engineers pursue development and application of theories for the physics of glassy polymers in order to understand vitrification and the glassy state in molecular solids. This understanding is coupled with the investigation of glassy state phenomena and properties so that new materials and new applications are continuously developed to improve the quality of life. Examples of this approach are foimd in the following chapters and an illustrative example can be found in Chapter 25 by Forsyth... [Pg.16]

The subsequent syntheses by Boukouvalas (Scheme 11.17) [22] and by Danishefsky (Scheme 11.18) [23] focus on the double bond in the six-membered ring, which allows a Diels-Alder approach. That however, requires activating groups at the dienophile that have to be removed in additional steps. Scheme 11.19 presents a combination of the syntheses by Forsyth [24] and by Maier [25]. They, too, implement a Diels-Alder reaction, again requiring an activating group on the dienophile. That leads in the end to a side chain that is short by one carbon atom, a fact that has to be corrected by a sequence of further steps. [Pg.185]

To finish, after a screening of the different conditions, the gold(I)-catalyzed acetalization of alkyne diols was elegantly applied by Forsyth and collaborators in their stereoselective approach toward the ABCD core of azaspiracid 97 (Scheme 9.28) [49],... [Pg.264]

Forsyth and co-workers developed the innovative approach of combining rare earths with organic inhibitors to synthesize multifimctional inhibitor compotmds (this approach is discussed in more detail in another chapter of this book). In their first publicatiorr, the authors analyzed the inhibition performance of novel corrosion irrhibitor compoirrtds for mild steel based on ceritrm (III) and substituted carboxylates. From these studies it was concluded that the addition of small concerrtratiorrs of all the synthesized organic REM inhibitors provided improved... [Pg.94]
