Formulation of Compounds from Fluorocarbon Elastomers

The type and amount of filler affect not only the final properties of the vulcanizate but also the processing behavior of the compound. Since the compounds stiffen very soon after mixing, only relatively small amounts of fillers, typically 10 to 30 phr, can be used [34]. [Pg.101]

White (silica) fillers, often surface treated, are sometimes used to improve flow, moisture resistance, and tensile properties [35-37]. [Pg.101]

Fillers commonly used in fluorocarbon elastomers are listed in Table 5.5 [38]. [Pg.101]

Best general-purpose filler excellent compression set and heat aging. [Pg.102]

Better high-temperature compression-set resistance than MT, but less reinforcing and poorer in processing and tensile strengdi/elongation. [Pg.102]
