Propranolol Formoterol

Fifteen patients with mild to moderate COPD and airways hyperresponsiveness were given ceUprolol 200 mg daily, metoprolol 100 mg daily or propranolol 80 mg daily for 4 days. Propranolol signifieantly redueed the FEVj and inereased airways hyper-responsiveness eompared with plaeebo whereas metoprolol only inereased airways hyper-responsiveness. Celiprolol had no signifieant effeets on pulmonary fimetion. The bron-chodilating effects of a single 12-microgram dose of formoterol were significantly reduced by propranolol, but not by metoprolol or celiprolol. ...
