3) Coatings of filler between polymer and metal surfaces prevented the melting polymer from wetting the barrel and screw surfaces. 

4) The sintered mass continued through most of the compression zone in this compacted form, so that the pockets of filler must have been subjected to high compression. 

5) At some point, which could not be clearly identified, the polymer in the sintered mass received sufficient conductive heat to become fully molten and normal cross-section circulating flow occurred. 

6) The agglomerates were entrained within the melt through the die into the extrudate.
