Forged materials

Different kinds of castings and moulded products or forged materials etc. 

The disk shall be of forged material suitable for the temperature and serviee. The disk shall be designed to attain 100,000 hrs life, without any eooling, at the normal (guarantee) point ineluding the temperature exeursions.

Deeper die cavities require more draft than shallow cavities. Draft angles for hard-to-forge materials, such as titanium and nickel-base alloys, should be larger than when forging easy-to-forge materials. 

The RPV forging materials shown in Table 1.2 have also evolved since the mid-1950s. The earliest grade, A105 Class 2, was used in the normalized and tempered condition for flanges and nozzles. This simple C-Mn steel was used to a very limited extent in RPVs that are now decommissioned. A...

Diameters are deliberately kept small to keep the wall thickness and metal weight down. However, as pressures and diameters increase, and new industrial processes are developed, it will push open the envelope of our existing technologies. Yet, fliere is a physical limit to what steels can do. The highest strengfli for any material in ASME Vin, Division 3, is a forging material, SA-723. However this material cannot be used for welded construction, only machined applications.
