Force Titrations of Flame-Treated LDPE Sample Preparation Flame-treatment [29] 

LDPE films are flame-treated (50x, lOOx, and 200x) according to hands-on example 35. 

The AFM tip is engaged with zero scan size. Following the acquisition of f-d curves and the calibration of the sensitivity of the optical detection system, FV scans (500 x 500 nm) are recorded at a z ramp rate of a few Hz. The maximum load applied to the samples should be limited to 12 nN. 

In such surface treated samples, the surface ionization state can be analyzed by calculating the average pull-off forces from FV scans on various flame treated samples as a function of the solution pH. Thus, FV data are captured for different
