CER, Forbidden Materials listed in the 49 CFR I72.I0I Hazardous Materials Table (http // hazmat.dot.gov/cfr forbidden.pdf). [Pg.760]

Forbidden materials are those considered too hazardous to be permitted in commercial transportation. Although FORBIDDEN is not specifically designated as a hazard class, the decision as to whether a material is forbidden for transportation is the first evaluation to be made when classifying the material. The chemical names of many such chemicals are found in the Hazardous Materials Table, Section 172.101. However, others must be evaluated against the criteria given in Section 173.21. This criteria covers ... [Pg.91]

As with other areas of the transportation regulations, it is the responsibility of the person offering the material for transportation to ascertain that the classification of the material and all other requirements stemming from such classification are complied with. Thus, the development of familiarity with the forbidden material area is essential. [Pg.92]

Examples of forbidden materials are ethyl hydroperoxide which explodes above 100° C, benzoyl azide, hexanitroethane, etc. [Pg.92]

By way of example, Section 173.21 lists various forbidden materials, and Section 173.51 lists forbidden explosives. [Pg.381]

Specifically forbidden materials that have been involved in transportation incidents in the past. [Pg.56]

It should be noted that the majority of otherwise forbidden materials may be diluted, protected, refrigerated, mixed, or stabilized to enable their transportation by one or more modes. [Pg.57]
