Folding patterns of polypeptides

Almost immediately after Pauling proposed the a-helix conformation, other researchers proved the presence of a-helix conformations in keratin, the protein of hair and wool. It soon became obvious that the a-helix is one of the fundamental folding patterns of polypeptide chains. [Pg.637]
