Flux, total lamp

The deep UV absorption characteristics of these catalysts requires deep UV lamp sources for optimum cure. All of the cure results presented herein were therefore obtained with an RPC Model 1202 QC Lab UV Processor equipped with 2 Hanovla medium pressure mercury vapor ultraviolet sources each capable of Independent operation at 100, 200 or 300 watt/lnch nominal power output and a conveyor which operates between 10 and 500 fpm. Actual power flux can therefore be widely varied per pass through the Processor as a function of total lamp output and conveyor speed. We have found that the microwave-fired Fusion Systems H lamp is also well-suited for these iodonlum/epoxysiloxane systems. 

Spectral irradiance values are based on a total radiant intensity (250-460 nm) of 4,600 uW/cm, a typical light flux for the operating reactor as determined by the trifluralin actinometer. The FS 40 lamp has negligable output at 253.7 nm and several minor emission bands above 500 nm in a region trifluralin does not absorb. 

Results can be displayed graphically in the spectroradiometric mode as a line or bar spectrum, or if the radiometric mode is chosen, as total radiation flux over the whole wavelength. Figure 3.3 illustrates the typical radiative flux spectra for two lamps. Tlie spectra were obtained using the spectroradiometer in the line spectrum mode. 

As notedr some cures were effected with a Linde DBHg PS-2000 unit employing three medium-pressure mercury arc lamps positioned parallel to the travel of the moving belt. The total delivered flux was estimated at 500 Watts/sq.ft. The equipment was run for twenty minutes before samples were cured to minimize temperature variations. All cures were done in air.
