Fluoropalmitic acid

P F]F2 adds across the double bond of c/ s-9,10-palmitoleic acid in a syn fashion (Scheme 14) to yield a mixture of racemic eryf/ ro-9,10-c// [ F]fluoropalmitic acid in 12-16% radiochemical yield. It was designed for the study of fatty-acid metabolism [89]. [Pg.19]

Several F-labeled fatty acid derivatives have been successfully prepared and evaluated as potential FAO assessing tracers [19-24]. Methyl-branched-chain (w- F-fluorofatty acids, such as 3-methyl-(3-MFHA) and 5-methyl-17-[ F]fluoro-heptadecanoic acid (5-MFHA), have been reported [23]. In a comparative study, it was found that rw-[ F]fluoropalmitic acid (FPA) exhibits the highest myocardial uptake, followed by 5-MFHA and 3-MFHA. FPA possesses the fastest myocardial washout rate, and 3-MFHA the slowest. In lipid analysis studies, 5-MFHA... [Pg.89]

Fluoroacetic acid was identified as the toxic principle of Dichapetalum cymosum, which is one of the most poisonous plants growing in South Africa (70). This acid was subsequently found in many plants belonging to several families in Africa and Australia. The seeds of D, toxicarium contain, besides a small amount of fluoroacetic acid, cofluorooleic acid as the major toxic compound (91). The presence of cu-fluoropalmitic, o>fluorocapric, and cu-fluoromyristic acids have also been reported (122). Biosynthesis of fluoroacetic acid has been proposed to occur by a nucleophilic incorporation of a fluoride ion into a C3 unit linked to... [Pg.269]
