The evidence for any interaction is therefore very limited indeed and its general clinical importance remains uncertain. The manufacturers of flucytosine advise that strict monitoring of flucytosine levels is required if both drugs are given. Of equal concern is the fact that both drugs are bone marrow suppressants, and this effect might be additive.
