Figure 10.17 presents a refinery flow diagram of the 1980s. [Pg.408]

The mud or slime is coUected from the bottom of the electrolytic ceUs and pumped to the sUver refinery, where it is processed for recovery of copper, precious metals, selenium, and, in many cases, teUurium. The anode slime contains 2—20% selenium as copper and sUver selenides, whereas gold exists as the metal and in combination with teUurium. A flow diagram is shown in Figure 8. [Pg.203]

A flow diagram for a proposed shale oil refinery is shown in Figure 5. An FCC unit is used as the primary cracking process. This refinery produces high-octane gasoline and diesel fuel. Jet fuel also could be produced by severely hydrogenating a kerosene cut (10) from the whole-oil hydrotreater or by using a hydrocracker in place of the FCC. The... [Pg.45]

Traditionally, raw sugar is produced at the cane mill and refined sugar is produced at a refinery, usually far removed from the source of the raw sugar, and close to areas of consumption. Figure 35.1 is a generalized flow diagram for the manufacture of raw cane sugar. In summary, the juice is extracted from the harvested cane stalks, the juice is purified (clarified), concentrated by vacuum evaporation, and crystallized. The several steps are described in the sections that follow. [Pg.1658]

Based on these disadvantages Veba Oel Technologies constructed a new pilot plant for the pyrolysis of refinery and hydrogenation residues using indirectly heated rotary kilns (Figure 19.2 shows the process flow diagram). [Pg.534]

The flow diagram of a gasoline-orientated refinery is shown in Fig. 1. Most important, we look at the numerous reactors, which can convert feedstocks, sometimes catalytically and at other times with thermal processing to more valuable products. The reactors are summarized in Table 1 with some of the general characteristics. [Pg.2557]
