Flood frequency

Flood Frequency Average amount of time between floods that are the same or greater than a selected magnitude. 

Flood Frequency. It would be wonderful if flood prediction were reasonably exact. However, the probability of knowing when floods would occur turns out to be a markedly difficult task as it involves frequency analysis, probability theory, data that need to be homogeneous and independent, and selected assumptions that existing stream-flow data would be similar to future flows. This fallacious assumption implies that there will be no changes in future land use and climate.
