Flavonoids with an Oligopolysulfated Moiety A New Class of Anticoagulant Agents [102] 

In a work by Correia-da-Silva et al. [102], olysulfated (oligo)flavonoids were synthesized and assayed for their in vitro and in vivo anticoagulant activities. The approach was based on molecular hybridization of two classes of anticoagulants. 

The derivatives resulting from chemical molecular modifications of known therapeutic agents have high chances to produce safer anticoagulant agents and this study provided interesting data to be explored by rational design in the future.
