The question of using U.S. standards for EU compliance always arises. Because there are numerous technical differences between the two countries standards and the U.S. standards are not listed in the OJEC, these standards may not be considered for European conformity. Also, there are major differences in philosophy between the European Union and United States. The U.S. focus is primarily on flammability and testing, whereas the EU focus is on shock hazards and con-stmction.
