Against this background, let us examine the evolution of total quality improvement processes (or in a broader sense operational excellence) from ad hoc improvement to TQM to Six Sigma to Lean Sigma. Building on the success factors of these processes the key question is how do we sustain the results The authors have named this sustainable process as FIT SIGMA (see Basu and Wright, (2003). [Pg.292]

Signature of quality (SoQ) It is a self-assessment process supported by a checklist covering customer focus, innovation, personnel and organizational leadership, use of technology and environment and safety issues. It is useful in FIT SIGMA for estabhshing a company health report. [Pg.385]

Figure 3.7 shows the growth of R. rubrum in a batch fermentation process using a gaseous carbon source (CO). The data shown follow the logistic model as fitted by (3.14.2.11) with the solid lines, which also represent an unstructured rate model without any lag phase. The software Sigma Plot was used to fit model (3.14.2.11) to the experimental data. An increase in concentration of acetate in the prepared culture media did not improve the cell dry weight at values of 2.5 and 3 gT-1 acetate, as shown in Figure 3.7. However, the exponential growth rates were clearly observed with acetate concentrations of 0.5-2 g-F1 hi the culture media. Match the main features of the rocking curve first, using plane wave calculations and a single (sigma) polarisation. It shonld be possible to fit all the main peaks accnrately in spacing and approximately in intensity. Then begin refinement to match the intensities and widths. [Pg.123]

Aminoethanol (Sigma 4.1 mL, 0.068 mol) is added to a 100-mL flask with a stirring-bar. Ethylsalicylate (Aldrich 10 mL, 0.068 mol) is added, and a reflux condenser is fitted to the flask. The mixmre is refluxed neat for 2.5 h, and then the product solvent (EtOH) is completely removed under reduced pressure. The crude, white solid is washed with two 10-mL aliquots of cold water. It is dissolved in 25 mL of CH2CI2 and dried with MgS04. The filtered solution is evaporated under reduced pressure, and the solid residue is dried under vacuum to yield 8.5 g (69%) of white solid, 2-hydroxy-A-(2 -hydroxyethyl)benzamide. [Pg.55]

Figure 8. Fluorescence decay of Pr phytochrome (124 kDa) excitation at Aexc = 640 nm, emission measured at Aero — 680 nm. The semilogarithmic plots of the measured decay (curve with signal noise) and the decay function calculated from best-fit kinetics parameters obtained by single-decay analysis (thin line superimposed on measured decay) are shown. In the inset the calculated lifetimes xf 3 and relative amplitudes Rf 3 of the decay components are given. On top, a weighted residuals plot (sigma) indicates the deviations of these computer-fitted parameters from the measured decay, with the value of the squared reduced error (y2) in the inset. The fluorescence decay of the red-light adapted Pr + Pfr mixture exhibited a comparable triexponential behaviour. (After Figure 4 in Holzwarth et al. [76].)... Figure 8. Sigma complexes have also been observed in the nmr. For example, when m-xylene is dissolved in HF + SbF5 at — 35°G, the proton magnetic resonance spectrum shown in Figure 7.7 is obtained. The peak at 4.7 ppp downfield from TMS is due to two parafinnic protons. The structure that best fits the spectrum... [Pg.387]
