Fillers color

Polymer Antioxidant Stabilizer Lubricant Plasticizer Filler Colorant... [Pg.495]

As we pointed out in Chapter 1, the preceding describes the postreactor finishing operation. The pellets are then shipped to be compounded, namely, blended with fillers, colorants, or other polymers, where after melting, mixing, and reacting, they form physical... [Pg.144]

Anaerobic adhesives contain reactive monomer(s), accelerators, stabilisers or inhibitors, fillers, colorants, modifiers, tougheners (rubbers, butadiene graft, etc.). The chemistry of anaerobic adhesive is complex but the schematic brief of the reaction may be shown as follows ... [Pg.164]

Now, it is not commonly realized that by moving from a neat HDPE to a filled composite material, the lifetime of the resulting composite dramatically lowers, often by 50-100 times. That is, the OIT in Table 15.2 for composite materials can decrease to as low as 0.3-0.5 min, if no antioxidants are added in the composite manufacturing process. Actual drop in the OIT value largely depends on the compounding process (on shearing and heating effects first of all), on type of fillers, colorants, lubricants, and, of course, type and amount of added antioxidants, if any. [Pg.495]

Transparency, in general drops with crystallinity (e.g. polyethylene), and with an increase of crystallite size which causes light scattering. Most fillers, colorants and auxiliary additives lead to opacity. Transmittance depends on the refractive index, so that some fillers may preserve full or partial transparency (translucent). There are also dyes that dissolve in the polymer, so that a colored transparent polymer is produced. It is also possible to find stabilizers (including antioxidants or UV absorbers) that do not affect the polymer transparency. Any chemical change in the polymer like degradation or oxidation, or diffusion of some components, may reduce light transmission. [Pg.89]

As with many fillers, colorants, and additives, CB is frequently compounded with a thermoplastic to form a concentrate or masterbatch that is then let down and dispersed in a chosen polymer to the final desired concentration. Masterbatches are available from a variety of compounders including Americhem, Inc., Ampacet Corp.,... [Pg.353]

Other ingredients, such as stabilizers, fillers, colorants, surfactants, and possibly blowing agents or gelling agents are also present. The polymer particles do not dissolve in the liquids but remain dispersed until the mixture is heated. Fusion (plus loss of solvent for the organosols) then yields the final plastic object. [Pg.385]

Anaerobic acrylic sealants or cyanoacrylates are known sensitizers, while the modified acrylic structural adhesives that cure in air more rarely cause allergy. Tosti et al. (1993) reported of three carpenters, each of whom became sensitized to wood paints and glues with butyl acrylate, 2-ethoxyethyl methacrylate, or a phth-late. Epoxy resin compounds are another commonly used group of adhesives, which contain resins (generally included in patch-test screening batteries), hardeners, and reactive diluents, as well as many other potentially harmful ingredients, such as tar, fillers, colorants, and other plastics. [Pg.855]

With all blends, changes in the ratio of the constituent polymers will yield a range of resins. These blends can also be combined with fiber, fillers, colorants, and other additives to produce a full family of products for differing applications. Some blends may contain several different types of polymers. [Pg.172]

The effects of BPA-PC molecular weight dominate the properties of blends that contain this material. Modifications are also made by blending with other polymers and the use of additives to achieve specific effects. These additives may be UV stabilizers, thermal stabilizers, flame retardants, mold release agents, fillers, colorants, impact modifiers, etc. Blends are made with... [Pg.338]

Automation by fast, stable and accurate control loops for consistency, flow, pressure and level is elementary for providing the necessary constancy in the approach flow system. Variations in pressure for example will mainly directly influence the MD profile whilst stock consistency deviations will affect both CD and MD basis weight profiles. In addition the retention on the paper machine and the chemical conditions of the water systems must be kept constant. Here a retention control loop is standard in many appHcations keeping the white water consistency constant by adapting the quantity of retention agent added. Controls for filler, color, air content, cationic demand or zeta potential are also available today. Combining the different controls to a total control concept will lead from purely functional controls to control systems which also address quality and production issues. [Pg.259]
