Screw elements and kneading blocks can also be designed so that their feeding effect acts against the material flow direction, however. These are known as back-feeding elements . They are also always filled completely and create a pressure drop.

In lens antennas, the generation of the beam is independent of focussing. Transmission and reception is performed by feed elements, which may be patch elements or the end of waveguides. The wide, exited beam is focussed with a dielectric lens, comparable to optical focussing but not completely the same because of diffraction effects. 

Load the positive feed element uniformly and consistently so that the prefeed hopper provides a mass flow into the feeder inlet... 

Positive feed elements with maximum drag flow performance levels that exceed the sum of leakage flow and actual throughput can build up pressure. If the polymer throughput is increased, but the feed effect of a downstream element is less due to a lower gradient, positive feed elements can also be pressure consumers. These must then be overflowed by elements with a greater drag flow performance just like remm elements. 

Since the convention ball screws possess a large spring constant, the energy generated by the rotational movement is often converted into the vibration circuit of the feed elements, resulting in an error motion. 

In a triple-feed machine, the drop-feed combines with the needle-feed and with a presser-foot, which also moves synchronised with the other two feeding elements. This system is able to virtually eliminate the problem of feed pucker, but its mechanical complexity results in a high price and a limitation in the machine s sewing speed. It is almost exclusively reserved for applications in heavy materials, such as leather goods.
